Safari Success!

Words cannot accurately portray how incredible these past few days have been. The safari was a major success and something that we will all remember for the rest of our lives!

Our adventure started bright and early Thursday morning as our three wonderful Dorobo guides, Hope, Alex, and Zenan, whisked us away from our home base in Maji Moto and toward our first stop, Loiborsirret Village. We snacked on sugar cane along the way and reached the village right before the sunset. We spent our night walking around the village, visited a boma, and some even got a chance to milk a cow.  Dinner was spent around the fire chowing down on some freshly grilled goat.

The next day we packed up the campsite, had some amazing coffee prepared over the fire, and were on our way to Oldonyo Sambu. For the next two days we camped out here and even had the chance to hike up Oldonyo Mountain. Although the terrain was rough and pretty steep at times the view at the top was worth it. Each night was spent camping under the most incredible stars some of us have ever scene.

Our next stop was the Tarangire National Park. Only moments after entering the park we witnessed a giraffe get chased by lions—even though the hunt was unsuccessful it was a pretty epic sight to see. Our day was spent seeing some incredible wildlife that included elephants, zebras, gazelle, wildebeest, cape buffalo, more lions, and even a leopard! The next morning we spotted three cheetahs, more lions, and some pretty adorable baby elephants. An extremely successful visit and we were only one animal away from seeing the entire Big Five.

The Ngorongoro Crater served as the final stop on our adventure and it was the perfect way to end our trip. Zebras and bush pigs camped out right next to our tents and we woke up to them right outside our doors, which was insane. Our last day we saw tons of lions, hippos, elephants, ostrich, impala, hyenas, and even a rhino! We can now officially say that we saw the Big Five while in Tanzania!

Pictures of our adventures will be coming soon and we cannot wait to tell you all about our adventures in person.
