Yesterday we got a chance to see a truly unique take on art by having our very own batik workshop. Batik is the technique of applying wax-resistant dye to a cloth or tapestry, creating a truly unique and one of a kind masterpiece. The Kiritas have been practicing this art form for a number of years and were more than happy to show us the tricks of the trade. They made quite the journey to teach us as they were coming all the way from Karatu, which is a few hours from Maji Moto. Everyone got a chance to put their creativity to the test and produced their very own batik.
